The Brief
This was going to be a mixed discipline team as the Gin Palace was to feature incredibly high end finishes and over a large area. We worked closely with the design team from Glasgow, the designers had a good idea of what they wanted. We then had to interpret those ideas and create the finishes for approval. Sounds simple…
The design was far from simple, there were a number of areas that needed specific surface designs, and they must fit with the overall mood of the entire space. The design team were very critical of the detail, so we had to be at the top of our game. We created various samples for 4 different areas within the project, this involved a number of site visits with new samples until the designers, architects, main contractor and the client; Hendricks, were 100% happy with the finishes.
The Install
Generally, the work can be completed in one phase. Even though there are various application stages and drying times, the S&S team will stay near the site until all the work is done. As it turned out, with projects of this complexity and scale all the work couldn’t be done in one phase.
We worked with the main contractor to overcome the challenges on site. The work was completed over three phases rather than the initial scheduled plan of one phase. It was definitely a labour of love and with a ‘we got there in the end!’ attitude and a great Team Stucco effort.
The Result
We are delighted with the result and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have completed work on a project with a prestigious brand like Hendricks. We have since worked on another project for the same design team at a venue in Edinburgh; Bon Vivant in St Andrews Square.
